History and Related Fields
The Social Studies As you study history, you will see how different subject areas in social studies , or the study of human relationships and society, relate to each other and to the past. There are many subjects in social studies, but some of the most important are history, geography, economics, civics, and social sciences, such as archaeology. These subject areas help explain why things happen today and in the past. For example, if a region has access to numerous waterways (a matter of geography), people in the past (history) might have lived by trade or fishing (economics). People who study history recognize that these other areas of social studies can help them understand history. You can make use of these other areas better if you have an understanding of some basic
